Liz Murray (born September 23, 1980 in The Bronx, New York) is known for being the homeless girl who became a student at Harvard University. I saw the movie, and felt its really a inspiring story to many who wanna make difference. A Little about her: ——————– Murray was the child of poor, drug-addicted, HIV-infected parents.

A couple of things yesterday reminded me of the 1950s Dan Dare comic strip. Firstly a Guardian article about an exhibition at the Science Museum about the strip's influence on British design. Then I noticed on Amazon that the current set of reprint volumes has reached Reign of the Robots (in my opinion the last really good Dare story before the strip started to go downhill).

The Science Museum in London is currently hosting a temporary exhibition (Wed 30 Apr 2008 - Sun 25 Oct 2009) demonstrating Britain's post war technological boom. "After 1945, though war-weary and broke, Britain found huge pride in wartime advances such as radar, penicillin and the jet engine.

So there I was - on the train into Birmingham, off to squander my hard earned cash on the latest comics, when I noticed a pile of papers on a nearby (unoccupied) table. “Well” thought I, “it would be rude not to read them”, as I sat at the table and claimed the papers as my own.

I have to say that today is one of my favorite days of the year, other than halloween and birthday. Free Comic Day is the first Saturday in May and it’s like Christmas for comic geeks like myself.  Last years was pretty disappointing, I was want too late and missed out on all the good stuff.

Today is Free Comic Book Day! After I pick up my copy of Garth Ennis’ “Dan Dare”, I’m going to the birthday party for Rachael’s 3 year old niece, Avery. Today will be a good day.
