In terms of time, a day is considered to be 24 hours in length, but in terms of light and darkness, a day is that space in which the sun is still shining and the sun hasn't yet switched places with the moon.

The day and dates have become very important things for man to record. The days of the week were all named after Norse gods and/or some of the planets. For example, Saturday is in reference to the planet Saturn and the Roman god named Saturn. Sunday is simply named after, you guessed it, the sun. Monday is named after the moon.

Some days and dates will never be forgotten, like ones where very important or very shocking things happened. Most people remember where they were and what they were doing on days like these. Other days come and go, only to be completely forgotten and chalked up as just another stitch in time.

Some people work during the day and others are night owls who labor into the wee hours of the morning. Thus, some people sleep during the night, while others fall asleep watching TV on their sofa mattress after work during the day, trying to catch some R.E.M. without the requisite melatonin that the darkness provides.
