demand generation
When someone first hears the term Demand Generation they may think it is a moniker for a generation of kids who grows up demanding everything. Like Generation X and The Greatest Generation, the name Demand Generation seems to denote a generation of kids who wants anything and everything their parents had and worked for all their lives — only they want it now! They don't want to have to wait for it!
However, Demand Generation is not that at all. Demand Generation actually refers to a type of marketing that companies do in order to create demand for their product or service. Demand Generation has nothing to do with an actual generation of kids, and has everything to do with targeted marketing programs, marketing campaigns, lead generation, and closing sales.
Demand Generation is, in a nutshell, how a person or company generates demand to sell their specific product or service. It is the newest trend in marketing and has worked so well it is sometimes the only type of marketing a company does.
