Dementia is not a single condition as most believe, but rather an entire group of medical symptoms that can have a profound impact on the daily life of an afflicted individual and his family. In this respect, dementia becomes not only difficult for the afflicted, but also for those friends and family members most directly affected by it. There is nothing single, or simple about it.

Dementia
can create a lot of stress for a family, and the adult children of the victims can find themselves as the primary caregivers, often with little or no experience. As the symptoms worsen, the individual may no longer be able to care for themselves, and may also become easily confused.

These disorders can cause an individual to wander off and get lost, become hurt, or even worse. Caregivers for someone with dementia should have a support system, because the task of providing for victims can become extremely stressful and difficult at times.

Bloggers and caregivers for sufferers of dementia can be found offering advice and support on sites including My Demented Mom and Family Caregiver.
