The term disease can cover infections such as infectious diseases as well as every day infections like colds and flu; disorders such as mental, physical, genetic, emotional, and sexually transmitted diseases such as herpes, The trem is also applied to behavioral and functional disorders as well as sickness and illness. If we suffer from a disease, we would usually require medical attention together with appropriate medication, good home care or even hospitalization. It would depend on the severity of the disease.
Many diseases have been in existence for centuries such as malaria, cancer, leprosy, smallpox, measles and the plague. In earlier times, there were no modern drugs or medications to treat such conditions. Some of the afflicted got better with good nursing care, nourishment, rest and clean water, but most would have died from their disease. Today, many diseases can be cured and any pain can be controlled.
