dispute

Tag details

A dispute is a conflict or controversy between two parties. A serious dispute may rise to the level of a lawsuit, becoming a legal dispute.

Common types of disputes include personal disputes, which are often emotionally tangled and intense, and labor disputes, involving conflicts between employers and employees. Land disputes are commonly discussed on blogs, as are financial disputes, including issues with credit or service.

While some disputes end up in court and even go to trial, many disputes are resolved with the help of mediators or arbitrators, who practice conflict resolution to find a compromise between disputing parties.
