dns
DNS stands for domain name system or server and is simply a database system that translates and computes a domain name into an IP address giving it a unique numerical identifier on the World Wide Web. The translation of a domain name from a simple to remember phrase that humans understand into binary numbers make it faster for computers and networking equipment to locate the addresses across the internet to access the data.
Domain names are part of the DNS system and can be purchased from companies like Godaddy where a name can be registered for a year or more to be used for a private or commercial entity. A domain can be hosted anywhere whether it be on your own dedicated servers or by whoever has the best web hosting services for your needs whether you’re blogging about web servers or have an enterprise eCommerce site.
DNS and the technologies surrounding it may seem complicated but you can quickly get up to speed with a wealth of knowledge delivered to you daily at Circle ID where everything you ever wanted to know about internet infrastructure and where it is heading is discussed in depth.
