Holiday weekend, so this will be a short one… essentially a nod to the Ramble Tradition. As to the holiday itself, let me say this clearly: Labor unions have outlived their usefulness, and have evolved to the point where they are now not the solution. Rather, they are the problem.

At the invitation of it’s founder Justin Gardner, I’ve become a contributing blogger at Donklephant. I’ll be posting, or cross-posting, my election related observations there when the opportunity arises, but, if you’re not already, you should be reading that blog on a daily basis.

Thanks to a generous invitation from Justin Gardner, I’ve joined the blogging team here at Donklephant so, I guess it’s best to start out with an introduction. My name is Doug Mataconis and, for the past three years or so, I’ve been blogging about politics, news, and whatever else catches my interest at Below The Beltway.

As we continue to grow I like to mark these occasions so I can thank everybody who reads day in and day out. And while we may not agree all of the time, do know I appreciate your thoughts and I hope you appreciate mine too. My worldview is richer because of the content that you all share with me everyday, and for that I’m very grateful.

After a month-long holiday and blogging hiatus (Very good thank you - fishing in Michigan, eating and drinking to excess in France - It was great.), I am trying to get back into the swing of things.
