down

Down is the layer of soft feathers found under the rougher outer layer of feathers of many birds.


Down is considered a great source of warmth and comfort, which is why it is widely used to pad such things as bedding, pillows, jackets and sleeping bags.


Down pillows and bedding can get expensive depending on the type of down used to fill the products. Goose down is generally the most expensive down on the market today.

Down sleeping bags are very popular because of the thermal warmth they provide to campers year-round. They are generally lightweight and can be designed to be quite compact.
