Drapes, also called curtains, are window treatments used to block light or drafts.

Other types of window treatments intended for a similar purpose include window blinds (both vertical and horizontal), shades, shutters and window panels.

Curtains are made of cloth or other material and often hung on a rod (called a curtain rod). As mentioned, their main purpose is to block out light from a window, but in the case of showers, they are used to keep water inside the shower area.
