DUI otherwise known as "driving under the influence" is a felony in Canada.

BAC or blood alcohol content must not exceed 80mg/100ml (.08). In 2007 (latest stats available) there were an estimated 12,998 motor vehicle deaths. 31.7% of total fatalities were directly related to alcohol.

MADD (mothers against drunk driving) and SADD (students against drunk driving) are two groups that are working and lobbying our government for tougher laws against alcohol guidelines such as zero tolerance against adults under the age of 21 and reducing the blood alcohol content level to .05.

Other common acronyms associated with "driving under the influence are "DWI" (driving while intoxicated) and "OWI" (operating while intoxicated).
