    Dyslexics demand name change

    http://jesusbudda.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 14/ dyslexics-demand-name-change/

A hoarde of angry protesters gathered outside the offices of Dictionary Inc earlier today to demand a change to the usage of the term dyslexic. Their frustration centers around the idea that the word used to describe their affliction is illegible to the group it is supposed to represent.

    Mental Math and Dyslexia

    http://mathmojo.com/ chronicles/ 2008/ 05/ 14/ mental-math-and-dyslexia/

Nice title, eh? Let me preface this with the admission that I know just about nothing about dyslexia. Clinically, I mean. The reason for this post is that Angela (Mother Crone) left a very interesting comment on yesterday’s post concerning how mental math has helped her daughter, who is dyslexic.

Moving posterior: Doc changes my neurofeedback set-up; calm ensues

    http://brainwave.typepad.com/ brain_wave/ 2008/ 05/ moving-posterio.html

The doc was happy with my progress with neurofeedback. I have reduced my A.D.D. He put it in terms of microvolts -- I reduced certain brain waves by so many microvolts. So the doc thought it was a good time to begin addressing anxiety. With A.D.D., the problem is too much of a certain type of slow electrical activity in the front of the brain.

Interesting tip off by brilliant (and busy!) feathered-friend Brain Duck: a humble blog… Journal of a 10 year old boy as he progresses through the DORE skills program in Australia. I’ve copied down the details of the start of the journey, which as you can see will conclude on the 20th of May.

    http://www.edukey.net/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ children-better-prepared-for-school-if-thei…

Young children whose parents read aloud to them have better language and literacy skills when they go to school, according to a review published online ahead of print in the Archives of Disease in Childhood. Children who have been read aloud to are also more likely to develop a love of reading, which can be even more important than the head start in language and literacy.

Leaning Problems, Dyslexia, or Learning Disability?

    http://www.bonnieterry.com/ blog/ ?p=3

Typically parents and teachers wonder if one of their kids has a learning disability or dyslexia if they have difficulties with letter reversals. But, letter reversals alone do not constitute a learning disability or dyslexia.

    Vegas games and actor’s name.

    http://kallao.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ vegas-games-and-actors-name/

Given a choice between a world with only blackjack or jack black I would choose blackjack. I just like how that sentence reads. And I dare anyone not in GA to refute me.
