emergency preparedness
Emergency preparedness is the pursuit of obtaining all of the necessary food, supplies, and skills to be ready for and survive any type of disaster or catastrophe either natural or man made.
An essential component of emergency preparedness is the careful and considerate approach towards building and maintaining an adequate food storage that fits the needs of the individual and/or household.
One of the most important supplies in emergency preparedness efforts is a 72 hour kit, which includes first aid items, food and water, emergency blankets, matches, and other tools that a person or persons will need for self reliance and to survive during the first three days after a disaster has taken place.
Another crucial component of emergency preparedness is having the necessary training and skill sets to be able to respond or react appropriately in any disaster survival scenario. Examples include earthquakes, floods, house fires, severe weather, and many other such unanticipated and untimely occurrences. One useful skill to have is knowing beforehand where utility shutoffs are located and how to turn them off.
