Emergency preparation is an oft overlooked aspect of survival in the 21st century. Within a civilized society, many of the necessities that come to bear in a disaster or emergency are built-in and at-the-ready services. However, this does not negate the importance of having in place a survival plan as part of a well rounded self reliance program.

Government, church, and civic leaders each stress the importance of not relying wholly upon societal establishments and organizations for citizens' welfare and well being. It is incumbent upon the members of society to responsibly participate in the safekeeping and security of themselves and their families.
