Though engagement rings may seem like a product of recent invention, these rings have actually been used as tokens of love and commitment for centuries. The undeniable symbolism of an engagement ring still holds just as much worth today as it did when the ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Romans started using symbolic rings.

While design options were obviously limited in the early days, diamonds were incorporated into engagement rings during the late 19th century and alternative gemstones and other customizations have become increasingly popular as the years pass. Even male engagement rings are starting to become a trend today!

Blue Nile does an excellent job offering informative posts to educate even the extreme novice about engagement bands, mens wedding rings and other related material. There are many engagement ring blogs out there, but Samara James is one of the few that take the time to create compelling posts that people actually want to read. What’s more, the blog is focused on writing for both men and women, so a traditionally female-oriented topic becomes much more than that.
