Facebook Connect is an application that can be used on sites outside of Facebook to connect to a visitor's Facebook profile and information. In essence, visitors to a site using Facebook Connect can sign in and share their information using their Facebook account.

This tool saves registration time, as all a visitor needs to do is sign in using a Facebook username and password. All of the other pertinent information is automatically pulled in from the Facebook account.

Facebook Connect can also be used to share information. A Facebook user who signs in on a third-party site can share that site or page on their Facebook wall. They may also show up in small window that shows their Facebook profile pic and lists all of the Facebook visitors to the third-party site.

With Facebook having more than 400 million users, and still growing, many website visitors have an account. Facebook Connect allows for greater interaction and a quick connection for sharing user information and details.
