Faces are the front portion of a person's or animal's head from the chin to the forehead.

Faces is also a social networking website that was first launched in 2004, under the name ProfileHeaven. Although it was meant to attract users from all over the world, by 2008, it counted about 300 000 members, mostly from the United States. That same year, ProfileHeaven was purchased by Symbios Group, who had plans to remake and relaunch the site, under the name "Faces.com". In late 2008, the Symbios Group CEO, Martin Montague, decided to purchase another online community named face-pic.com, with the intention of merging the two projects and developing a stronger bond between their users. Face-pic.com was once a prominent community with mostly UK and US users, however, it was forced to close due to financial difficulties, and the Symbios Group purchased it just in time to save their data from deletion.

In 2009, the company tried to unsuccessfully relaunch Faces.com. Several bugs that were affecting the website made navigation difficult, and technical development was slow due to the website's complicated architecture. By 2011, Faces.com was ready for another relaunch, with management this time completely abandoning previous models and deciding to start the project anew. The target market and purpose of the website were drafted out. The new Faces.com is meant for unattached young adults, who love entertainment and the idea of meeting new people, rather than just spending time with old friends. On these premises, the company came with the idea of online fraternities, which enable members to associate with others and expand their friend circles.

Fraternities on Faces.com are complex communities that are organized into different chapters, which can hold up to 100 members. The core purpose of fraternities is to encourage active and constant interaction between members. To achieve this, members can get involved in numerous activities, such as social events, parties, as well as participate in challenges between different Fraternities. To become a member of a Fraternity, members are required to have a certain reputation score, which can be earned by having an open and friendly attitude towards others. Once a person becomes a fraternity member, they will be able to access different private forums, discuss events with other fraternity members, gain access to a private fraternity chat room, and more.
