What first comes to mind when you think of the word fast? An automobile, running, time? There are a lot of objects and ideas that can go fast. But, how fast is fast? You may think that 200 mph is fast (and so would your car insurance company and the cops), but you'd be wrong if the discussion was in regards to a figher jet. You may also think that 24 hours is slow, but it's fast if we're talking jail sentences.

Another meaning of the word fast is to go without food or drink as part of a religious ritual. The Bible has Jesus going 40 days and 40 nights fasting. That would really drag on slowly for anybody else!

If you really want to start to understand the meaning of fast, wrap your mind around light speed, which is a mind-blowing 186,000 miles per second! Bloggers speaking about fast and things that have a fast engine can be found at sites like fastrunningblog and fastcarsblog.
