Fernando Torres is a native Spaniard making a name for himself in the world of professional soccer.
Torres, whose full name is Fernando José Torres Sanz, was born in 1984 and began his professional career starring for Atlético Madrid in 2000 before being purchased for a rumored 25 million Euros transfer fee in 2007 by Liverpool of the Premier League. Since joining Liverpool, Torres has made a favorable impression on his current employers, netting himself several hat tricks and a host of goals in a little under two seasons.
In international play, Torres has helped Spain find success in both the World Cup in 2006 (Round of 16) and UEFA's Euro 2008 where the Spaniards won the competition, besting Germany in the finale, 1-0, by scoring the winner for the champions.
