Spas and swimming pools require a filter as part of the filtration system used to maintain the chemical balance and cleanliness of the spa or pool. Spa filters are essential to attend to the sanitation and chemical balance of spas and pools, as the temperature is right for the accumulation of bacteria and the spread of disease.

The filter uses a micrometre-range particulate screen with bromine, chlorine or mineral sanitizers to kill bacteria growth. While the filter can maintain most of the daily cleaning needs, it is also important to periodically shock the water with chlorine or potassium monopersulfate (non-chlorine) shock.

Blogs on filters include vendor and manufacturing sites with information on new products, product testing and reliability standards. Fresh Water Systems offers an informative blog on the nature of water filtration, and news in the water purification front.
