A well mapped out financial plan can be difficult to accomplish on your own. It's doable, but seriously, how much time did you spend in school learning about one of the most important factors to your success in life, your finances?

If you don't learn about budgeting, savings and interest, credit, 401(k)s and IRAs, taxes, and stocks and other investment options while you are growing up and living at home, by the time you are out on your own you've probably accumulated enough debt to strangle a Blue Whale!

The upside to all of this is you can "self smart" yourself if you take the time (or take classes), but you can also seek the services of a professional financial planner for sound financial planning advice and a good road map. Do you want to be rich? There is a map for that. Do you just want to live comfortably? There's a map for that, too. There's no map for poor; you can get there on your own. But if you want to get ahead and rise above a mediocre financial situation or one that is in serious trouble, seek out a financial planner.
