fundraising

Fundraising is the act of receiving money or resources by asking for donations from individuals, businesses or charitable foundations.

Some fundraisers offer taxable deductions, such as money given to churches and non profit organizations.

There are many groups that do fundraising such as schools (for fields trips for example), sports teams (uniforms), non-profit organizations (animal shelters) and churches.

There are many methods for raising funds and the popular ones include: car washes, selling chocolate bars or other candy, bingos and raffles.

A few famous fundraising efforts are Bad Aid, Live Aid and Sport Aid which help raise funds for the famine in Ethiopia.
