Help! I’m being social-networked to death

    http://www.theappgap.com/ help-im-being-social-networked-to-death.html

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a recluse, and not ready to become an “Island, entire unto myself” (to quote John Dunne). But I’m getting more than a little overwhelmed by all these different social networking websites - LinkedIn, PlaxoPulse, Facebook, and there must be a couple of others that I’ve

    http://www.thefutureofwork.net/ blog/ archives/ 000728.html

Wednesday evening Charlie was the featured speaker at a "2050" Forum in Prescott, Arizona (his hometown). The Forum was organized and hosted by Mayor Jack Wilson. The local newspaper, The Prescott Daily Courier, carried the story yesterday ("Grantham: Community needs to adjust for changing workplace").

    Work-at-Home Companies

    http://www.thefutureofwork.net/ blog/ archives/ 000727.html

Diane Coles, our good friend and client at SCAN Health, alerted me to a recent posting at CareerBuilder.com that lists a number of companies - new and old - that have been aggressively promoting work-at-home programs - "teleworking," to use the most common term.

SkillsOneTV: Ross Dawson on the future of work

    http://rossdawsonblog.com/ weblog/ archives/ 2008/ 09/ skillsonetv_ros.html

SkillsOne is the TV channel of the Institute for Trade Skills Excellence, providing video programming both on cable TV and online to promote the development of trade skills. Last May it won the Webby award for the best association website. Shortly after SkillsOne was founded last year I was interviewed by the channel on the future of work.

Finding and defining the perfect workweek

    http://www.theappgap.com/ finding-and-defining-the-perfect-workweek.html

Mike Gunderloy from WebWorkerDaily recently wrote an article entitled “Stalking the Ideal Workweek”, about how the regular 40-hour workweek has changed dramatically over the past few years. Although the article is aimed at independent teleworkers, this is also a trend that is becoming more and more visible in both corporate and government offices.

Kiplinger Reports on the Benefits of Telecommuting

    http://www.thefutureofwork.net/ blog/ archives/ 000725.html

I was very pleased to be quoted in a recent short piece in Kiplinger Reports about the growth of telecommuting (Dress for Success - In Your Pajamas, Kiplinger Reports, October, 2008) Senior Associate Editor Ann Kates Smith called me a few weeks to ask for my perspectives on work-at-home programs.

    Managing Telecommuters - Chapter 573.2

    http://www.thefutureofwork.net/ blog/ archives/ 000724.html

"How do you manage people you can't see?" - that's probably the number one question we get asked whenever we discuss the financial, environmental, business continuity, and social benefits of telecommuting (or, as we prefer to call it, flexible/mobile work). And it probably won't go away anytime soon.

One More Time: How Do You Manage Telecommuters?

    http://www.theappgap.com/ one-more-time-how-do-you-manage-telecommuters.html

(this post is adapted from a similar one I just posted on the Future of Work blog, “Managing Telecommuters - Chapter 573.2“) “How do you manage people you can’t see?” - that’s probably the number one question we get asked whenever we discuss the financial, environmental, business continuity, and social benefits of telecommuting (or, as we prefer to call it, flexible/mobile work).
