    Make the data dance

    http://digicynic.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 08/ 14/ make-the-data-dance/

From my friend Darius: Gapminder takes UN data and visualises it graphically over time. You choose all parameters (life expectancy, personal income, CO2 emissions, broadband penetration) and it maps trends by country over time. Go to http://graphs.gapminder.org/world/ It certainly does make the data dance.

I remember the first time I saw Hans Rosling present his Gapminder project. In a TED video he wowed the crowd by bringing boring tables of statistics to life through stunning animations. His innovative presentation of data dispelled myths and misconceptions.

Microsoft and EEA deal starting to pay off

    http://greenmonk.net/ microsoft-and-eea-deal-starting-to-pay-off/

James has written previously about how Microsoft and the European Environmental Agency (EEA) signed a non-exclusive five year deal with a goal to “make environmental information more accessible to citizens in Europe”. As James said at the time: Likesay, this is pretty much a canonical Greenmonk story.

Gapminder: A Playground for Global Data Trends

    http://buzzyeah.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ gapminder-a-playground-for-global-data-trends…

Presentations of global data trends sound boring, right? Not so when it involves Hans Rosling and his Trendalyzer software. Trust me. I just spent 30min messing around with Trendalyzer over on Gapminder.org. I stumbled across Hans' Trendalyzer after watching this video of his amazing presentation at TED in March 2007.
