In this month’s issue of Reason magazine is a gem of an article by Gene Healy, author of “The Cult of the Presidency: America’s Dangerous Devotion to Executive Power”, on which the article is based. Healy has many quotable passages.

Happy hour with Gene Healy April 30th, 2008 by CJ Ciaramella Yesterday OC Ed-in-Chief Ossie and I drove up to Kell’s Irish Pub in Portland to hear Gene Healy of the Cato Institute talk about his new book, The Cult of the Presidency: America’s Dangerous Devotion to Executive Power.

    Gene Healy’s attitudinal forebear

    http://www.jerrybrito.com/ 2008/ 03/ 09/ gene-healys-attitudinal-forebear/

I’m reading my friend Gene Healy’s great new book, The Cult of the Presidency, and it reminds me why I like him so much. In describing founding-era Pennsylvania Senator William Maclay, Gene could be describing himself: The Maclay that emerges from the journal is a dyspeptic grouch, the sort of personality that too few people properly appreciate.
