global
We live in a virtual global village. It's safe to say that the world of today is much more connected than it has been at any time in the past. The internet and cheaper telephone communications have transformed the way we do business and interact with our foreign neighbors.
There is a saying that could also apply to our global connections that states: "Does the flap of a butterfly's wings in Brazil set off a tornado in Texas?" Nothing that we do is in a vacuum. Like a rock being thrown into a pool of water, our actions cause a ripple effect. Directly or indirectly, our influence expands globally.
Many large companies outsource a significant portion of their operations overseas. Our relations with our trading partners are an important part of the global economy. Tourism helps communities and nations to flourish. The travel industry, especially flight, benefits from our global comings and goings. The shipping industry is also huge. But, despite all of this, love is still arguably the force that makes us a global family, and the world go 'round.
