global warming
Global Warming is the most contentious environmental issue today and the blogsphere is alive with arguments between those who agree that it's a threat and those who don't.
The Kyoto Accord, or Protocol, to establish a schedule for countries to reduce the greenhouse gases that cause Global Warming, was negotiated in 1992 at The Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, but major countries, including the United States, have refused to ratify it. Opponents of the Kyoto Accord worry about the impact it will have on local economies.
Global Warming is believed to be responsible for the climate changes responsible for crop failures, famine, drastic changes in the weather, and the polar ice cap melting. Those who disagree with idea of Global Warming argue that climate change is a natural occurrence and examples can be found through out Earth's history of previous instances.
