The greatest game ever, some say, is available now — almost two weeks before its scheduled release. But don’t think you can actually play it yet. Game publisher Electronic Arts says it has started allowing early loads of the massively single-player real-time strategy / life simulation / god game “Spore” to gamers who pre-ordered the PC version.

While having a discussion with the Associated Press, Will Wright hinted at the possibility of seeing his god-game, Spore being made for the next-generation consoles. Although, if it does happen it won’t be an exact port of the PC version, much like what happened to the Sims series when it was brought over to the PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox a few years back.

Controversy is brewing over poll results featured in a What They Play article featured earlier this month. The poll, published in a story titled “Parent’s More Concerned About Video Games than Alcohol or Pornography” generated significant attention from the video game media as well as mainstream news outlets.

One of the biggest franchises in video game history is about to get bigger. EA has just announced at GC: 08′ that the Sims 3 will be released in February 20, 2009. The Sims series which sold over 100 Million units worldwide, is set to get even more in depth with EA’s newest installment.

Oh jeez, Will Wright and EA wants to make a Spore Movie and/or TV show. While speaking with Reuters, he spoke about his ambition to adapt the game onto the silver screen. With Spore, we’re looking way outside the game space, such as TV, movies, etc.

EA has announced a partnership with Planetwide Media, allowing Spore content creators to share their creations with friends through the use of Spore E-Cards. The service will be free, however it will require you to register. Once registered, players will be able to log in at MashON.com/SPORE, and bring their “Spore creatures to life”.

Based on the original 1989 Populous PC classic from Electronic Arts, Populous DS brings a re-imagination of the classic strategy game, which pioneered the God simulation genre. Featuring touch-screen controls that utilize the dual-screens, players manipulate 5 elementally-imbued gods, each with their own unique miracles, within an extensive single-player campaign.
