The history of gold rings as wedding rings has been passed down for thousands of years of traditions. In Ancient Egypt the tradition of married women using goldbracelets marked the fact that they were married, but the bracelets became smaller and smaller until they were the gold wedding rings.

Ancient Greeks wore a gold ring on their index finger to mark that they were married; the Indians used a thumb gold ring. The Romans believed the left hand and the “ring” finger were connected to a vein running right to the heart, so it became the finger for the wedding ring.
