google chrome

Tag details

Google Chrome is the company's first attempt at releasing a web browser as it continues to expand into different realms outside of search.

Google Chrome was released in September 2008 with its first version used exclusively on Windows machines, with Mac OS X and Linux versions to come out in the near future. The announcement actually came out earlier than expected after some bloggers had received a comic book introducing the release as a preview, but placed the information on their sites before Google was ready to officially talk about the release. Big media and technology blogs quickly jumped on the story and found the site open for viewing, causing Google to release it fully two days ahead of schedule.

Early reviews of Chrome, including one from PC World, believe it is a good first step as a competitor versus Internet Explorer. it still has room for improvement before it can come closer to unseating the giant.
