The guitar is the quintessential instrument of our time. As the most popular string instrument, it’s versatile, relatively easy to learn, relatively cheap to buy, its uber-cool and – best of all – it sounds great. Everyone loves a guy or girl who can play a guitar and learning isn’t difficult, but without a good tutor it’s not easy either.


Guitar teachers are forced to specialize in a particular genre of teaching. These include Spanish, acoustic, rock and metal guitar lessons, due to the varying techniques and genres. Since the guitar's roots as an acoustic stringed instrument, massive evolution has taken place due to guitar's overwhelming popularity and the diverse sounds needed for the ever growing variety of music genres. Since the creation of the internet as we know it, millions of blogs about guitars, tips, tricks, hardware and tablature have surfaced in the community.

In 2005 a video game called Guitar Hero took the concept of playing “air” guitar and turned it into a game where players “play” rock music on guitar-shaped game controllers. Since its initial release the series has sold more than 25 million copies, with people from all walks of life lining up for a chance to be a rock star in their own living room.
