hacker

The popular meaning of hacker refers to an expert computer user who accessed computer systems by circumventing their security and protections.

Hackers use different approaches depending on the target they want to access. This can range from social engineering over using security exploits, brute force, keyloggers, worms and other malicious software to packet sniffing.

Internet sites and their users are a prime target of computer hackers these days. Attacks against popular sites such as Facebook, MySpace or Twitter are common these days.

They usually have the goal to steal the user's login credentials or private data.

Some website such as Facebook offer notifications if a Facebook Login has been logged by another user.

Bloggers talk about hackers and hacking at sites like Ghacks Technology News and Login Helper.
