Heidi Klum, the Teutonic titan of modeling, was born in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany on June 1, 1973. In 1992, Heidi won "Model 92", a German modeling competition. The top prize was $300,000 and an appearance on a German talk show, Gottschalk Late Night. Worldwide fame followed Heidi’s appearance on the cover of the 1998 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

Beginning in 2004, Heidi hosted "Project Runway", an extremely popular fashion/reality TV show. The show has received a Peabody Award. Heidi herself was nominated for an 2008 Emmy Award. “Project Runway” has also been written about almost obsessively on various internet blogs. A creative, multi-faceted person as well as top model, Heidi has designed clothing, shoes, and jewelry. Her signature symbol is the clover, although she helped develop a rose which bears her name, as does her signature perfume.

Ms. Klum was married to hair stylist Rick Pipino from 1997 through the end of 2003. They had no children. Heidi conceived her daughter Helene (Leni) by businessman Flavio Briatore. She married the singer Seal in May 2005 when Leni was a year old. Together, Heidi and Seal have raised Leni, and had two more children, Henry in 2005 and Johan in 2006.
