    Gettin’ my patriotism on

    http://bathtubjunkie.net/ ?p=1045

Is tomorrow really the Fourth of July? How can that be? My grandma always said that summer was downhill after July 4th ~ that the trees start losing their vibrant green color then and that nature starts its process of winding down.

June 5th is National Gingerbread Day Okay is it me, or is it totally weird to have National Gingerbread Day (NGD) in June. Shouldn’t this be a fall event? Isn’t that when we think about tasty, spicy, warm gingerbread with a scoop or 4 of nice burnt caramel ice cream? Regardelss of our superior feeling on the matter.

    Parve at Sinai

    http://www.theparvebaker.com/ ?p=106

There are many explanations for the ancient, near universal custom of eating dairy on Shavuot. I’ve been collecting them for a while. One of the best-known and loveliest is a simile based on a verse from the Song of Songs: As honey and milk shall be under your tongue (4:11), so words of Torah will be in your heart.

    Memorial Day

    http://tiara-lilhippymomma.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ memorial-day.html

Started the day off by making pancakes and turkey bacon, strawberries on the side. My mom then came over and helped Mason whip up a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. It was such a beautiful day today, over 80 degrees! We were in and out of the house most of the day.

    A Party with a Trifle

    http://www.dinnerwithkirsten.com/ 2008/ 05/ 21/ a-party-with-a-trifle/

Trifle is a traditional English dessert first created in the 18th century to use up leftover cake and cream—the word “trifle” means whimsical or of little importance. The traditional English version involves sherry- or fruit juice-soaked sponge cake, spread with jam, covered in custard and topped with whipped cream.

    Weekend Pass

    http://blog.wholesalerscatalog.com/ ?p=178

I just bought a new 45 cal. Pistol and I haven’t gotten a chance to shoot it yet. I’ll be able to shoot a few rounds while I’m out on my camping trip. That’s one of the benefits of living in the middle of nowhere. That and the fact that there are hundreds of sand pits full of fish close to the town I live in.
