People and companies who are willing to host your website are a dime-a-dozen these days. The quality of these web hosting services varies as widely and as broadly as the number that exist.

At their most basic level, a hosting service is a service that allows users to upload their website(s) to the internet. The hosting service usually provides these users with space on their server farm and promises some sort of connectivity speed and latency. Dedicated web hosting is different in that the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone.

There are differences among hosting services. Can you upload files to your website? Is your webpage just a "landing page" with some hyperlinks? Or can you put videos, 360 images, and user-interactive pieces on your website? Is the website advertiser-sponsored or is there a fee? Can you conduct e-commerce on your website?

Take a moment to outline and plan what the purpose and vision of your website is before you go hunting for a hosting service. It's a big game out there; don't go hunting in your underwear.
