hurricane ike

Tag details

On September 13, 2008, Hurricane Ike made landfall in the United States, directly striking Galveston, Texas with winds in excess of 110 MPH. Ike had previously made landfall in Turks and Caicos Islands, Hispaniola, and Cuba.

In the days and weeks after the hurricane, movement to restore things to back to normal was slow due to the severe impact the storm had on the state of Texas and neighboring areas. Estimates are still being made on how much financial impact Hurricane Ike will ultimately have on the United States.

The aftermath of the powerful storm was widely chronicled in the blogosphere.
