I’ve just posted the text of my Blue Sky, Blue Sea hypnosis induction script in the free resources section (which has its own RSS feed, incidentally). As I remark on that page, I put this together out of other people’s ideas, so why not make it available? I hope it’s useful to my fellow hypnotherapists and to anyone who wants to try self-hypnosis.

I’ve bought a new and better microphone, a Rode Podcaster, and I’m going through re-recording my hypnotherapy scripts - they should now sound a lot crisper and less muddy. I’m also making small changes to some of them, adding in things that I’ve learned or come up with since I first recorded them.

I’ve drafted up a new brochure to give to my clients, with a distillation of the best advice I could find on the process of giving up smoking and dealing with the recovery effects. It isn’t specific to hypnotherapy at all, though it does mention the NZAPH as a place to go for help.

Hypnosis is a social interaction in which one person acts in response to the suggestions given him by another person or by the hypnotist. These suggestions are given for creative experiences and they involve changes in memory, perception, and the voluntary control of the action.

‘A trance like state that resembles sleep which is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject’ is a traditional definition for hypnosis. Today, many types of means and devices not restricted to trained person are available for the purpose of hypnosis.
