identity
Finding out who you really are, what you value, and where you are going is a life-long journey. The journey to find your identity is something you will do forever. Who are you? What do you like? What are your values? Your principles? What motivates you? What is your personal philosophy?
You may have been one of those kids who was always a sheep in the Christmas play. Or perhaps you we were the star of the show. Maybe you are the type of person who watches daytime television while eating Macaroni and Cheese out of a Styrofoam cup. Or maybe you are a high-powered banker on Wall Street. Maybe you were coddled too much by your mother in your youth? Or perhaps your mother died while you were still very young. Any and all of these scenarios help to develop your identity.
From the first time your parents washed you in little baby bath tubs until you are laid down to rest in an eternal grave; you are constantly defining your identity.
Identity is such a powerful part of who we are that someone who is going through a midlife crisis may be said to be having an "Identity Crisis." Bloggers speaking about identity can be found at sites like fightidentitytheft and identityblog.
