To implant something is to set it deeply and securely.

In the cosmetic world, implants often refer to augmenting or replacing a body part with something artificial. The artificial part can be used to fill a void, to "look" better, or a number of other physical or psychological reasons.

Dental implants, for example, offer a long-term replacement for missing teeth. This will help make a person's smile nicer, rather than having large gaps in their teeth. Although implants are not necessary (as there are other solutions) to rectify this issue, implants do offer a more long-term strategy.

Another common "implant" procedure, usually for cosmetic reasons because of cancer of the breast or confidence issues, etc., is the breast implant procedure.

Two common breast implant methods include the inframammary method (involving the placement of the implant within the inframammary fold), and the periareolar method (where the incision is made on the areolar border).
