    http://www.theroar.com.au/ 2008/ 10/ 07/ warne-keeps-steve-waugh-outside-his-top…

Merv Hughes and Mark Waugh were handy cricketers but did they really hold a candle to Mark’s twin brother, the former Australian skipper Steve Waugh? http://www.wellpitched.com/ 2008/ 10/ rebels-are-back.html

The return of international cricket has coincided with the return of the rebels with the 2nd season of the Indian Cricket League starting from Friday. With 9 teams, 41 matches, and 4 venues - the ICL promises to be bigger and better than before. Has anyone seen the new ICL ad on TV? I couldn't find a video online.

    http://www.cricketnewsonlinelive.com/ 2008/ 10/ has-senior-vs-junior-issue-divid…

Kirsten's statement (found below) makes one wonder whether the brouhaha surrounding the seniors has affected the morale and worse divided the team into two. Too old to rock ‘n’ roll?

    http://blogs.cricinfo.com/ surfer/ archives/ 2008/ 10/ too_old_to_rock.php

While comparing sporting icons to rock stars, Ayaz Memon says time runs out on sportspersons much quicker, a challenge facing India's veterans at the moment. He writes in the DNA: For the professional sportsperson, however, life can be cruel. Success on the field of play is time-bound, and when the skills start fading, so does their perceived value.

Rohit Mahajan, in Outlook, writes that Lalit Modi, the "fiendishly efficient" IPL boss, has his influence pared down. Modi, says Mahajan, does not gel with new BCCI president Shashank Manohar and, against expectations, was not made chairman of the marketing committee.
