Insolvency, simply put, is the inability of a debtor to pay off creditors.

Insolvency can be a term used to describe a person or business that has more debt than what they are able to pay off, either by cash or the liquidation of assets.

There are many companies that specialize in debt consolidation for individuals who are on the verge of becoming insolvent.

In some areas it is illegal for a business to continue to run if it becomes insolvent.


Insolvency in a business must be determined by a court in order to be legally declared insolvent and apply to have debts forgiven.
