FriendFeed vs. Plaxo (vs. Twitter) part 2 - perhaps words aren’t necessary?

Hello again. Yesterday, I was, rightly, criticised for diminishing the conversation. Perhaps I’ve been out of the game too long, but I don’t disagree. Following is the Compete + Alexa scores for these services.

A middle-out web services infrastructure for systems biology

Image via WikipediaOne of the thoughts I’ve always had over the years in life science software was the need to adjust to constantly changing needs and technologies. In the world of “omics” software, where the technologies generating the data, as well as the data types keep evolving, it gets pretty darn complicated to build solid software projects.

    Censorship in toys

    http://www.parentdish.com/ 2008/ 07/ 06/ censorship-in-toys/

Filed under: Babies, Toddlers, Fun & activities, Media, Education, Toys & games, Gadgets & tech About a month ago my husband was playing around with one of our son's toys and realized it was censored. The toy in question is a Leap Frog brand caterpillar called an Alphabet Pal with letters on each of its twenty-six legs.

Full Local Access for Domain Admins

    http://www.vistax64.com/ showthread.php?t=166093&goto=newpost

Hi folks I am running a Windows 2003 network at home, and have just taken delivery of a shiny new laptop running Vista Ultimate 32bit. I have upgraded the OS to SP1 and joined it onto my domain. I now want to configure the laptop so that any member of the Domain Admins group gets full administration access to the laptop in order to be able to install software.

    weekendlog

    http://riseandpray.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ weekendlog.html

I have had a really good weekend! Friday saw one of my colleagues moving back upstairs, so I dashed along to the florist's in Stockbridge and bought her a bouquet of flowers. She was quite touched. *grins* Then I got to finish early, went up town, and met my Spiritual Director.

    IE6, so this is goodbye!

    http://www.teddy-o-ted.com/ science-tech/ ie6-so-this-is-goodbye/

Special thanks to Matt for this write up regarding IE6 Independence, in response to 37signals’ landmark decision to remove IE6 support in their products. Just by the mention of IE6 in a party full of web designers and it’ll turn into a complaining, ranting, whining session.

Death Penalty for blogging in Iran

    http://www.kiwiblog.co.nz/ 2008/ 07/ death_penalty_for_blogging_in_iran.html

Boing Boing reports that Iran is bringing in the death penalty for certain types of blogging. Yes it will be a crime to establish a blog which disturbs mental security in society. Examples are promoting corruption, prostitution or apostasy. So athiests might be up for the chop.

    Bletchley Park Might Get Saved

    http://kschofield.spaces.live.com/ Blog/ cns!4C58DDFAA6673C69!3001.entry

Lasst month on my trip to the UK I was fortunate to visit Bletchley Park, the famous Allied codebreaking unit during World War II and now a national heritage site. Sadly, it's been underfunded and is quite in a state of disrepair.
