intuit

Intuit Inc. is a software company, based in Mountain View, California, which develops and sells personal and business software titles such as Quickbooks accounting software, TurboTax tax preparation software for Americans and QuickTax for Canadians.


Intuit is also the maker of the popular business accounting software QuickBooks, which has come to be the most widely used financial management and small business accounting application in the United States.


Intuit is the brain child of Scott Cook, who realized that computers would soon take over pencil and paper based accounting. Together, with programmer Tom Proulx Intuit came to be in 1983.

As of March 2010, Intuit sees an annual revenue of approximately $3 billion.
