Tag details

ISP stands for Internet Service Provider, sometimes also referred to as an Internet Access Provider.

An Internet Service Provider gives their customers access to the World Wide Web for a fee, and in some cases will also allow their customers to create a web presence and have access to email services.

The two major types of Internet access include broadband (or high-speed or always on Internet) and dial up Internet. Broadband Internet can come in the form of cable Internet, satellite internet, wireless Internet or DSL internet. Dial up Internet is not as popular as it used to be, is much slower than broadband, and requires the use of a telephone line making the line unavailable for normal telephone use.

You'll find bloggers talking about ISPs or Internet Service Providers at sites like ISP News and Wireless ISP News.
