Josh Rouse Performs “Love Vibration” from his album 1972

    http://clippernolan.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 09/ josh-rouse-performs-love-vibrat…

Here’s a clip of Josh Rouse singing a highlight track from a very good album 1972, the song in question being “Love Vibration”. The album was actually released in 2003, being named after singer-songwriter Rouse’s birth year, the year when Carole King’s Tapestry ruled the airwaves, and the last of embers of 60s idealism were still aglow.

Chloe's just like me / only beautiful

Josh Rouse! Covering Mother Love Bone! Thanks to Kelly who sent this to me -- it's a song from the latest volume in Rouse's Bedroom Classics series. I am big fan of volumes 1 and 2, and it's quite a mindtrip to hear Nebraska singer Josh Rouse take on the formidable late '80s/early '90s pre-grunge rock sounds of Mother Love Bone.

Band (Mini) Interview - The Daylight Hours

    http://soundaslanguage.com/ 2008/ 04/ 28/ band-interview-the-daylight-hours/

I recently talked with David Adedokun of The Daylight Hours last month. Here is the short Q&A. Describe the band’s sound and major influences. David: A lot of the record is rooted in alternative country. That sound seems to lend itself to good storytelling.

Oh my blog is a precious thing to me! No matter what’s up, I can find someone who will console me or reprimand me or remind me of what’s really important. You buck me up, cheer me up, set me back up on my feet and send me on my way. Thank you. I’m feeling much less miserable and much more inspired today.

Thanks to Nick, who suggested more 20th century songs to add to the list: – “1963″ by New Order (video link is the “arthur baker remix”). – “1972″ by Josh Rouse (that’s a crappy video, but on his site, you can see a video of him doing an excellent cover of “A Forest.” Suddenly I’m a little bit in

Valentine's Day Indie, Alternative and Rock Songs of Love with Artwork from Milk

    http://indierockcafe.com/ 2008/ 02/ valentines-day-indie-songs-of-love-and.html

This amazing illustration (above) is the work of a stunning Tucson artist simply named Milk. Her gallery of semi-avante garde artwork intricately blends elements of classic art styles with symbols of modernism that often reflect the darker and more disturbing side of love, loneliness and apparently substance abuse.
