Justin Bieber is a 17 year old Canadian pop singer, songwriter and actor, who has achieved mainstream popularity after being accidentally discovered on YouTube by talent manager Scooter Braun. In 2008, Bieber signed up with Raymond Braun Media Group, a record label owned by Braun and R&B musician Usher, and has released numerous hits to date.

Justin Bieber was born in London, Ontario, but was raised in Stratford Ontario. He became interested in music at a young age, being a self-taught guitar, trumpet, drum and piano player. In 2007, Bieber's mother began uploading some her son's musical interpretations on YouTube. These were overs of popular songs, which began gathering a steady, but loyal YouTube fan-base. Scooter Braun accidentally stumbled onto some of Justin Bieber's 2007 videos and later reported to have been immediately impressed by Bieber's talent and vocal capabilities. Shortly after, he contacted Bieber's mother to settle a meeting and the details of a potential future collaboration.

Justin Bieber's debut single, "One Time", made it into the top ten chart positions in Canada, and became a hit in several other countries. Bieber's debut release, "My World", which came out in 2009, established the singer's mainstream appeal, as he became the first entertainer to have 7 songs from one single release making it into the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

His first full length album came out in 2010, and quickly went platinum in the United States. "My World 2.0" contains Bieber's most popular song to date, "Baby" which features rapper and actor Ludacris. "Baby" is currently one of the most discussed videos on YouTube, its universal acclaim having generated the phenomenon known as "Bieber Fever", which is used to describe both Justin Bieber's growing popularity among teenage female fans, as well as his near instantaneous rise to stardom. As with many either teen idols, Bieber is applauded as well as criticized in the media.

His undisputed impact on the entertainment industry has earned Bieber numerous nominations for music awards, including two nominations for the 53rd Grammy Awards in 2011. His public image has also been the source of great inspiration among young individuals, and his online reach is believed to exceed even that of Barack Obama.
