Kellie Pickler first garnered fame as a contestant singing country music in season five of American Idol. Even though she didn't win the contest in 2006, it jump-started her musical career.

In the short two years since then, she has won several Country Music Television awards (Breakthough and Tearjerker Video and Performance of the Year 2008), as well as Songwriter of the Year awards in 2007 and 2008 from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).  Kellie has also been nominated by the Academy of Country Music awards in 2007 and 2008 for Top New Female Vocalist of the Year.  Both her first and second albums debuted at the Number One position on Billboard's U.S. Top Country Albums chart.   

Singer/songwriter Kellie Pickler is also part of the new guard in Nashville comprised of other young, talented performers.  This group includes Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, both of whom are also close friends of this lovely addition to country music.
