kiwi

A kiwi is a nocturnal flightless bird native to New Zealand. The Latin species name is Apteryx, which means wingless. Today the kiwi bird is endangered due to introduced predictors from European settlers.

The Kiwi is also a national symbol of New Zealand and a colloquialism referring to a citizen of New Zealand (uppercase K). The distinctive kiwi label is found on many products and services, including the blogosphere where the moniker Kiwi is used to define a New Zealand centric blog. Many Kiwis use blogs to opine on New Zealand life or when they live elsewhere to keep in close contact to their native homeland.

Kiwifruit is a highly editable vine berry made popular by New Zealand farmers though now produced throughout the world. Kiwifruit is often referred to colloquially as "kiwi" in many parts of the world.
