Laser treatments are generally recognized as 'medical' treatments and are performed in both general medical and cosmetic treatments.

Cosmetic laser treatments are performed at med spas, skin clinics and other centers that are operated by a physician, or operate with some form of physician oversight. Non-cosmetic medical treatments are usually performed in a conventional medical center or hospital.

Laser hair removal, co2 laser and fractional laser resurfacing, Fraxel, are among the more popular "cosmetic laser treatments".

Lasik eye treatments are the most popular general laser treatment in the US.

Blogging has been embraced by both cosmetic and general medical laser treatments as a means of communication with existing patients, and is commonly used for marketing online.
