Lasik is a type of refractive surgery used to correct, as you may have guessed, refractive disorders (or refractive errors).
The three common types of refractive errors include myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
Myopia (or nearsightedness) is a condition where people have difficulty seeing distant objects, the opposite being hyperopia.
Astigmatism is a distortion of the image on the retina caused by irregularities in the cornea or lens of the eye.
